As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen community awareness of the risks of trafficking in persons, the Fund for Assisting Victims of Trafficking in Persons (FAVOT) organized today, Thursday, 12 February 2026, an intensive training workshop for more than 35 imams and female religious preachers at the Port Said Directorate of Religious Endowments. The workshop was held in cooperation with the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TIP) and the Ministry of Religious Endowments (Awqaf), Egypt.
The workshop aims to prepare qualified religious leaders to deliver awareness messages through sermons and religious outreach activities in a manner that strengthens the concepts of protection and prevention while remaining consistent with the principles of Islam and the national legal framework.
The workshop forms part of FAVOT's plan to expand the implementation of training workshops across governorates, with the aim of building a network of trained religious leaders who can actively contribute to protecting those most vulnerable to exploitation.
