The Fund for Assisting Victims of Trafficking in Persons (FAVOT) Continues Its Capacity-Building Activities Through an Intensive Training Workshop for Social Women Leaders in Alexandria Governorate

As part of the ongoing efforts of the Fund for Assisting Victims of Trafficking in Persons (FAVOT) to strengthen community awareness of the risks of trafficking in persons and enhance prevention and protection mechanisms, the Fund, in cooperation with the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TIP) and with the participation of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, organized an intensive training workshop in Alexandria Governorate to strengthen the capacities of 32 Social Women Leaders. The workshop was held on 31 January and 1 February 2026.

The workshop covered the mandates of the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TIP), as well as the mandate of FAVOT and its role in providing support and assistance to victims. It also presented the various forms and indicators of trafficking in persons. In addition, two representatives of the Ministry of Social Solidarity delivered a presentation on the role of shelter centers in providing protection and comprehensive care for women survivors of violence, as well as the procedures for handling cases and delivering the necessary services.

The workshop also included practical training sessions and simulation exercises on effective communication techniques for Social Women Leaders during field visits with families. These sessions aimed to strengthen community awareness of the risks of trafficking in persons and ways to prevent it, while also highlighting the safeguards and measures established under Law No. 64 of 2010 on Combating Trafficking in Persons.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the training team of the Fund for Assisting Victims of Trafficking in Persons (FAVOT) presented certificates of completion to the Social Women Leaders, in recognition of their pivotal role in raising community awareness, supporting the State's efforts to combat trafficking in persons, protecting those most vulnerable to exploitation, and contributing to the promotion of social justice and the building of a safer and more stable society.

In the same context, the Technical Secretariat of FAVOT continues to implement its awareness-raising plan by conducting two consecutive workshops for religious leaders, imams and female religious preachers at the Alexandria Directorate of Religious Endowments on 2 and 3 February 2026.

The two workshops aim to familiarize participants with the various forms of trafficking in persons, enabling them to raise awareness of its risks within their communities by building on their influential guidance role in society.
