The National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Human Trafficking organized a ceremony on the occasion of the launch of the Fund for Assisting Victims of Human Trafficking to support victims and provide them with all assistance, in addition to their psychological and social rehabilitation, reintegration into society, and economic empowerment to enable them to start a new safe and stable life.
The ceremony, held at the Egyptian Diplomatic Club in Cairo, witnessed the presence of a distinguished group of high-level guests, including representatives of governmental institutions, several ambassadors and diplomatic missions, as well as representatives of international organizations and civil society, in addition to a number of media professionals and media outlets.
Ambassador Naela Gabr, Chairperson of the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Human Trafficking and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Fund for Assisting Victims of Human Trafficking, stated that the Fund is a pioneering step to translate Egypt’s commitment to human rights into tangible reality. She explained that the Fund aims to provide direct support to victims in legal, medical, psychological, and social fields, restoring their dignity and enabling their safe integration into society, and that it represents a practical extension of the integrated protection system developed by the National Committee.
She also highlighted the pivotal role of the National Committee in coordinating national efforts and developing policies and strategies to combat human trafficking and illegal migration, in cooperation with state institutions, civil society organizations, and Egypt’s international partners. She concluded that the Fund reflects Egypt’s commitment to protecting human dignity and represents a model in the region and a message of hope for every victim.
During the speech of Ambassador Amr El-Sherbiny, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Affairs and International Security, representing the Minister of Foreign Affairs, he stated that the launch of the Fund reaffirms Egypt’s commitment to international cooperation to eradicate human trafficking, assist victims, and prevent further exploitation. He added that Egypt’s current priorities include assisting victims, addressing root causes, and strengthening cooperation at the international, regional, and national levels.
During the speech of Ambassador Dina El-Sayeh, Executive Director of the Fund, she stated that the launch of the Fund is a true reflection of the Egyptian State’s commitment to human rights. She explained that the Fund provides comprehensive support to victims—financial, psychological, legal, and social—and works on their rehabilitation, protection, and reintegration into society, helping them rebuild their lives on the foundations of dignity, safety, and trust.
